9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. The New South Café will begin serving dinner from
5 p.m. – 9 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday beginning February 6th. They are located at 2601 Skidaway Road, just minutes from historic downtown Savannah. Come into the classroom as Chef Matt Cohen shares his experience and talent while cooking for a good cause. The fundraiser will include an event for 25 people at
The New South Café. Participants will have a great time while receiving private cooking instruction from top ranking Chef Matt Cohen and then dining on the exquisite cuisine that has been prepared right in front of them. Unique recipes will be taken straight from the chef’s kitchen while proper cooking techniques, how-to’s, and cooking basics are taught. The New South Cafe’s 2007 Cooking for Charity events will be held from 11 a.m. to
2 p.m. on the last Monday of each month. Organizations will receive a $2000 donation for their cause. Tickets for each event are $100, with 75% of the proceeds donated to charity. Space will be made available at the event to advertise for your charity or organization.
A fifth generation Savannah native, Chef Matt Cohen is a culinary expert who has worked in big name restaurants throughout New York and Atlanta. A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York, Matt trained at one of the top rated culinary schools in the world and went on to work for French Master Chef
Maxime Ribera of the famed Maxime’s in New York, in restaurants throughout the city. Matt also worked for the well known Chef Pano Karatassos at the Buckhead Life Group Restaurants in Atlanta, including Buckhead Diner and the Atlanta Fish Market. Upon returning to the Savannah area, Matt worked at The Pirates’ House and 45 South.
Matt opened The New South Café in 2006 with friend and fellow CIA graduate, Scott Gordon. Chef Scott worked in Florida for the world famous Chef Norman Van Aken, founder of a visionary way of cooking known as “New World Cuisine,” for many years.
The New South Café is a hip and quaint restaurant with an artsy feel serving up a sophisticated southern menu and fun ambience.
